NBA 06-07

By Gagan Singh

The 2006-2007 NBA season started last week and I am pretty excited about this season. For one, the Raptors only have four players remaining from last year and thus a vastly different team will be on the court than the one that went 27-55 a year ago and finished 24th in a league of 30 teams. This year I expect the Raptors to have a much better record and hopefully will challenge for a playoff spot. It is possible, especially with additions of Fred “Dunk on You” Jones, TJ Ford and Anthony Parker. Also the #1 pick Andrea Bargnani should have a solid rookie season.

However, I’m more excited about this season because of the Western Conference and them Los Angeles Lakers, also known as Kobe’s team. Now the Lakers have been my team for too many years and I expect great things from them this season. Not only do they have the best player in the game in Kobe Bryant but also have a decent supporting staff in Lamar Odom, Radmanovich, Walton and Kwame Brown. They should do better than last year when they finished a surprising 45-37 and a 7th seed in the Western Conference. Although the western conference is extremely competitive, the Lakers should improve on a 1st round exit last year and should be an extremely difficult 2nd round opponent. So without wasting anymore time, here are my 2006-2007 playoff picks (in no particular order).

Western Conference

San Antonio Spurs
Dallas Mavericks
Phoenix Suns
LA Lakers
LA Clippers
Utah Jazz
Houston Rockets
Denver Nuggets

Eastern Conference

Miami Heat
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Milwaukee Bucks
New Jersey Nets
Washington Wizards
Orlando Magic

Due to injuries or suspensions, one or more of the playoff bound teams may not make it, ala last years Houston Rockets, so if that does happen again, I expect one of the following teams to make it to the playoffs.

West:
Sacramento Kings
NO/Oklahoma City Hornets

East:
Toronto Raptors
Philadelphia 76ers

Props to my brah gagan for takign initiative for another site to keep the bougaloo busy.

Your brackets are a bit flawed because

    1. RAptors will make playoffs, or I will leave the city, or I will do a penthra parkarma circa 2004 lakers bet.

    2. LAkers will make the western conference finals because of mr. philip

    3. Heat will beat the rockets in the NBA final

Props again Gagan sion, keep it hood though, dont get all serious on a brother

I think the Raptors are off to a pretty good start. This month should go just a little better then their 1-14 start to november last year. The games are also getting easier after facing NJ and the Spurs in the first 2 of 3.

On a side note, I think Joey Graham is gone by the trade deadline. He’s good, but our bench is much better this year and I don’t see him ever cracking the start 5, so later dat Golden Graham.

    My predictions for upcoming games:

Sixers – Win. If we hold Iverson to 25 points or less.
ATL – Win. Damn, they 3 and 1 homie. But they still suck.

POP QUIZ GAGAN: What is November 17th?

AHAHAHHA the raptors make the playoffs. ahhahaha. the sixers would make the playoffs before them, and the sixers suck. pipe dream.
